Target Information
CD180 (RP105, Bgp95, LY64) is a type I membrane glycoprotein of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family.
The CD180 cytoplasmic tail is short and lacks the TIR domain, unlike other TLRs.
CD180 expression depends on coexpression with MD-1 and mirrors TLR4 expression on antigen-presenting cells.
It regulates LPS recognition and B cell signaling by interacting with the TLR4 complex, inhibiting microbial ligand binding.
Ligation of CD180 by monoclonal antibodies leads to B cell activation, upregulation of CD80/CD86, and increased cell size.
CD180 consists of extracellular leucine-rich repeats (LRR) and a short cytoplasmic tail.
Diseases associated with CD180 dysfunction include Kawasaki Disease in children and may contribute to rheumatic disease pathology.
