Description:
The B1.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human gamma delta TCR complex. The gamma delta TCR is expressed by a small subset of T cells in the thymus, peripheral lymphoid tissues, intestinal epithelium, and epidermis. These cells may recognize bacterial ligands and tumor cells in the context of MHC class I-like gene products and play roles in immune regulation and bacterial infection. This antibody serves as a phenotypic marker for gamma delta TCR-expressing T cells.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤1 µg per test (final volume 100 µL). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information

TCR gamma/delta (T-cell receptor gamma/delta) are specialized T-cells in the immune system. They discriminate foreign from self-peptides presented by MHC class II molecules, critical for adaptive immune response. Mutant self-peptides are associated with tumors, and bacterial superantigens can trigger toxic shock syndrome. Autoantibodies to V beta segments of TCRs are found in rheumatoid arthritis and lupus patients, potentially regulating inflammatory responses. Gamma-delta T cells, primarily found in epithelial tissues, exhibit less TCR diversity and distinct antigen recognition compared to alpha-beta T cells, with subsets showing antitumor and immunoregulatory activity.
