Product Specific Information

Description:
The 1B1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD1d, a 48 kDa glycoprotein structurally homologous to MHC class I molecules. Although similar in structure to MHC Class I, CD1d associates with β2-microglobulin and functionally resembles MHC Class II. The 1B1 antibody detects CD1d at varying levels on mouse leukocytes and specifically recognizes β2m-associated CD1d.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended use ≤1 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell numbers can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is advised for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD1d is a heavy chain associated with β2-microglobulin on cortical thymocytes. Independent expression of CD1d has been demonstrated on human intestinal epithelial cells. CD1d is the sole group 2 member of the CD1 family of MHC-like glycoproteins.
The CD1d gene encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein structurally related to MHC proteins, forming heterodimers with β2-microglobulin. CD1 proteins present lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes clustered on chromosome 1, differing in localization and ligand specificity. CD1d localizes to late endosomes and lysosomes via a tyrosine-based motif.
Diseases associated with CD1D include Mycobacterium Malmoense infection and autoimmune disorders.
