Target Information
The CHST13 gene encodes a protein that belongs to the sulfotransferase 2 family. It is localized to the Golgi membrane and catalyzes the transfer of sulfate to the C4 hydroxyl of β-1,4-linked N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) flanked by glucuronic acid residues in chondroitin. Chondroitin sulfate is the predominant proteoglycan in cartilage and is widely distributed on cell surfaces and extracellular matrices.
