Target Information
AGTR1 (Angiotensin II Type 1 Receptor) is a receptor mediating the major cardiovascular effects of angiotensin II, a potent vasopressor hormone regulating blood pressure and aldosterone secretion. It plays a key role in cardiovascular volume control and may be involved in reperfusion arrhythmias after ischemic injury. Although previously thought to have a related gene (AGTR1B), only one type 1 receptor gene exists in humans. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.
