Target Information
Rat IgG1 is a subclass of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies commonly used in research and diagnostics. These antibodies are produced by rats in response to antigens and can be purified from serum or hybridoma cell culture supernatants. Rat IgG1 is often used as a negative control in experiments since it does not bind to many mammalian antigens. It is useful in immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and western blotting for antigen detection. Gene targeting in rats enables manipulation of specific genes to study disease pathogenesis in model systems.
