MAGEB2는 MAGEB 유전자 패밀리에 속하며, 이 패밀리 구성원은 전체 코딩 서열이 마지막 엑손에 위치하고 서로 50~68%의 서열 동일성을 보입니다. MAGEB 유전자의 프로모터와 첫 번째 엑손은 다양성을 보여, 동일 기능이 서로 다른 전사 조절하에서 발현될 수 있음을 시사합니다. 본 유전자는 DSS(용량 민감성 성전환) 중요한 영역에 위치하며, 고환과 태반에서 발현되고 다양한 조직학적 유형의 종양에서도 상당한 비율로 발현됩니다. MAGEB 유전자는 Xp22-p21 염색체 영역에 클러스터되어 있습니다.
