Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are linked to various cancers. CHK2 is activated by DNA damage and phosphorylates modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins. It can phosphorylate BRCA1, aiding DNA damage recovery. CHK2 mutations are associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome and may predispose individuals to sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
