Target Information
BMP2K (BMP2 inducible kinase), also known as BIKE, is a 1,161 amino acid nuclear protein belonging to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. It plays a role in phosphorylation processes that regulate cell division, homeostasis, and apoptosis. BMP2K is involved in osteoblast differentiation and catalyzes ATP-dependent phosphorylation of bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs), which are essential for cartilage and bone formation. Through its kinase activity, BMP2K contributes to signaling pathways mediating bone growth and cellular differentiation. Three isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
