Target Information
ASL 유전자는 lyase 1 패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화하며, 이 단백질은 세포질 내에서 homotetramer 형태로 존재합니다. 주된 기능은 argininosuccinate를 arginine과 fumarate로 가수분해하는 반응을 촉매하는 것으로, 이는 간에서 암모니아를 해독하는 요소 회로의 필수 단계입니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 상염색체 열성 질환인 argininosuccinic aciduria(argininosuccinic acid lyase deficiency)를 유발합니다. 또한 염색체 22번 긴 팔에 전사되지 않는 pseudogene이 존재하며, 다양한 isoform을 암호화하는 alternative splicing 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
