Target Information
PDC (Phosducin) encodes a phosphoprotein localized in the outer and inner segments of rod cells in the retina. This protein may regulate visual phototransduction or photoreceptor metabolism integration. It modulates the phototransduction cascade by interacting with the β and γ subunits of the retinal G-protein transducin. PDC is a potential candidate gene for retinitis pigmentosa and Usher syndrome type II. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
