Target Information
Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS) is a developmental disorder caused by a hemizygous microdeletion on chromosome 7q11.23. It is characterized by physical, cognitive, and behavioral traits such as facial dysmorphology, vascular stenoses, growth deficiencies, dental anomalies, and neurologic abnormalities. The WBSCR11 gene, also known as GTF2IRD1, is located within the WBS deletion region and may contribute to the developmental symptoms of WBS due to loss of the encoded transcription factor. WBSCR11 is expressed in all adult tissues and shows distinct spatial and temporal expression during embryogenesis.
