This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IP6K2 protein.
Target Information
The inositol hexakisphosphate kinase family members, IP6K1 and IP6K2, exhibit high affinity and selectivity for inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP6) as a substrate. They convert InsP6 to PP-InsP5, with no catalytic activity toward other inositol pyrophosphates. InsP6 inhibits serine/threonine protein phosphatases, increases calcium influx across the plasma membrane, and may regulate insulin exocytosis. IP6K1 and IP6K2 were characterized as 54 kDa and 49–50 kDa proteins in rat and mouse brain extracts, respectively. IP6K1 also displays ATP synthase activity, transferring phosphate from PP-InsP5 to ADP, suggesting a role as high-energy phosphate donors.
