This antibody detects endogenous levels of Rpb1 CTD only when phosphorylated at Ser2/5.
Target Information
RNA polymerase II is responsible for the synthesis of mRNA and many non-coding RNAs. The POLR2A gene encodes RNA polymerase II subunit B1 (RPB1), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II.
The C-terminal domain (CTD) of RPB1 contains tandem heptapeptide repeats with the consensus sequence YSPTSPS.
Phosphorylation and other modifications within this region regulate the recruitment of transcription and RNA processing factors. Specifically, phosphorylation at Serine-2 and Serine-5 residues coordinates the recruitment of RNA processing factors during transcription elongation.
