Target Information
CD45 (also known as LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising approximately 10% of all surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent in non-hematopoietic cell lines and tissues.
This glycoprotein plays a critical role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, acting as a regulator of Src-family kinases. Multiple CD45 isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains.
CD45RA, one of the isoforms, shows restricted expression among lymphoid cell subtypes. Isoform expression depends on cell type and physiological state. CD45 regulates T- and B-cell antigen receptor signaling, suppresses JAK kinases to control cytokine receptor signaling, and supports cell survival by modulating integrin-mediated signaling and apoptosis-related pathways.
