KIAA1530 단백질은 자외선 조사 후 정지된 RNA polymerase II 소단위의 유비퀴틴화 및 탈인산화에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 이 단백질은 뉴클레오타이드 절제 복구 복합체의 여러 구성원과 상호 작용하며, 전사 결합 뉴클레오타이드 절제 복구(TC-NER) 경로에서 DNA 손상 부위를 제거하는 데 기여합니다. KIAA1530의 결함은 UV-sensitive syndrome 3을 유발할 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사체 변이체가 존재합니다.
