Target Information
The PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT) proteins act as transcriptional coregulators in various cellular pathways, including STAT, p53, and steroid hormone signaling. The PIAS family includes at least five conserved genes, among which PIAS3 specifically binds to STAT3 upon its activation. PIAS3 is implicated in transcriptional regulation and functions as a SUMO E3 ligase. Elevated PIAS3 expression has been observed in several human cancers such as lung, breast, and brain tumors, suggesting diverse roles in different tissues and cell types.
