Target Information
Component of the DRB sensitivity-inducing factor complex (DSIF complex), which regulates mRNA processing and transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II.
DSIF positively regulates mRNA capping by stimulating the mRNA guanylyltransferase activity of RNGTT/CAP1A.
It cooperates with the NELF complex to enhance transcriptional pausing near promoters, facilitating assembly of elongation-competent RNA polymerase II complexes.
DSIF and NELF inhibit TFIIS/S-II to promote pausing, while DSIF also positively regulates elongation and is required for activation by HIV-1 Tat.
DSIF suppresses transcriptional pausing and prevents premature release of HIV-1 transcripts.
