Target Information

NR2E3, also known as NR2 Hepatocyte NF4-Like Receptor, is involved in cone cell proliferation and photoreceptor phenotype determination during human retinogenesis.
In RD7 mice, NR2E3 deletion leads to hereditary retinal dysplasia and degeneration.
A homozygous missense mutation in NR2E3 is associated with retinitis pigmentosa.
Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been identified.
NR2E3 is expressed in the retina, and ESTs have been found in cancerous human lung, colon, and ovary tissues, as well as in normal human eye.
