Target Information
PER2 (Period circadian protein homolog 2)는 주로 핵에 존재하는 단백질로, 다른 생체 시계 관련 단백질들과 상호작용하거나 인산화에 의해 핵-세포질 간 이동을 조절합니다.
PER2는 bHLH (basic helix-loop-helix) 전사인자 패밀리에 속하며, PAC (PAS-associated C-terminal) 도메인과 두 개의 PAS (PER-ARNT-SIM) 도메인을 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 CRY, CLOCK/NPAS2, BMAL1/2, CSNK1D/E, TIMELESS, PER 단백질 등으로 구성된 생체 시계의 핵심 오실레이터 복합체의 일부로, 일주기 리듬 생성에 필수적입니다.
PER2는 음성 조절 요소로 작용하여 다른 시계 단백질의 핵 내 이동과 상호작용을 통해 전사 루프를 조절합니다.
주로 골격근과 췌장에서 강하게 발현되며, 폐에서는 약하게 발현됩니다.
PER2 유전자의 결함은 가족성 조기 수면 단계 증후군(FASPS)의 원인이 될 수 있습니다.
