Specificity: TAS2R31, with expected cross-reactivity to T2R46 and T2R43.
Target Information
TAS2R31 is a receptor involved in bitterness perception and gustducin-linked signaling. It may participate in sensing gastrointestinal chemical composition, stimulating alpha gustducin, mediating PLC-beta-2 activation, and gating TRPM5. Expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue, exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. Individual taste cells can discriminate among bitter stimuli.
