This antibody specifically recognizes Human Thioredoxin 2 (TXN2).
Target Information
Thioredoxins (Trx) are small, multifunctional proteins with oxidoreductase activity found in nearly all living cells. They contain a redox-active disulfide/dithiol group within the conserved Cys-Gly-Pro-Cys active site. The cysteine residues in the active center can form intramolecular disulfide bonds upon oxidation. Reduction of this disulfide bond is catalyzed by thioredoxin reductase using NADPH as an electron donor.
Reduced Trx serves as a hydrogen donor for ribonucleotide reductase, essential for DNA synthesis, and acts as a general protein disulfide reductase involved in growth and redox regulation. Trx also interacts with protein disulfide-isomerase (PDI) and transcription factors such as p53, NF-κB, and AP-1. Additionally, Trx can remove H₂O₂ when coupled with methionine sulfoxide reductase or peroxiredoxins.
