DRP1은 인간의 dynamin-related 단백질로, 포유류 세포의 미토콘드리아 분열에 관여합니다. 정상 상태 및 세포자멸사 과정 중 미토콘드리아 분열에서 중요한 역할을 하며, 돌연변이 뉴런에서는 시냅스 부근에서 미토콘드리아가 거의 존재하지 않아 미토콘드리아의 역할을 연구하는 유전적 도구로 활용됩니다.
