O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT)는 항암제 알킬화제의 세포독성 작용에 대한 종양세포 저항성에 관여하는 중요한 DNA 복구 단백질입니다. MGMT는 DNA의 구아닌 O6 위치에 도입된 알킬기를 제거하여 DNA 알킬화에 의한 유전독성 및 발암 효과로부터 정상 세포를 보호합니다. MGMT의 발현량은 세포 및 조직 유형, 종, 세포 성장 특성에 따라 다양하며, 종양 그룹 간 및 동일한 종양 내에서도 활성 차이가 존재합니다.
