Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to 15 amino acids near the center of human CTRP5.
PEP-0003 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20153.
Target Information
Adipose tissue plays a major role in regulating metabolic and immune processes by secreting bioactive molecules known as adipokines.
The adiponectin/ACRP30 family and its structural paralogs, C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1–7, are highly conserved adipokines.
Unlike adiponectin, which is expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes, CTRPs are expressed in a wide range of tissues and are believed to act mainly on liver and muscle to control glucose and lipid metabolism.
Structural analysis of adiponectin suggests an evolutionary link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, indicating a common ancestral innate immunity gene.
CTRP5 has been implicated in age-related macular degeneration.
