Target Information
Thromboxane synthase encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These monooxygenases catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and lipid synthesis. This endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein converts prostaglandin H2 to thromboxane A2, a potent vasoconstrictor and inducer of platelet aggregation. It plays roles in hemostasis, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. Alternative splicing produces different isoforms.
