Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, which together contain four RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins. The RPL10A gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L1P family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Expression of this gene is downregulated in the thymus by cyclosporin-A (CsA), an immunosuppressive drug. In mice, RPL10A expression decreases in neural precursor cells during development. Formerly known as NEDD6, it has been renamed RPL10A. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are distributed throughout the genome.
