STAT6 단백질은 주로 IL-4 및 IL-13에 의해 활성화되는 전사인자로, Th2 면역 반응에 핵심적인 역할을 합니다. STAT6 결손 생쥐(Stat6-/-)는 IL-4 매개 기능 결핍을 보이며, Th2 세포 분화, 표면 마커 발현, T세포 증식, IgE 클래스 전환 등에 영향을 받습니다. STAT6 mRNA는 림프구, 장, 난소, 전립선, 흉선, 비장, 신장, 간, 폐, 태반 등 다양한 조직에서 검출됩니다. STAT6은 IL-4 매개 생물학적 반응에 필수적이며, STAT6a 및 STAT6c 두 가지 주요 isoform으로 존재합니다.
