Product Specific Information

Mature equine IL-4 was expressed in Pichia pastoris X-33.
GenBank® Accession # P42202, amino acids 24–132.
For protein verification, the expressed protein was N-terminal sequenced and begins with the following 10 amino acids: CKYDITLQEI.

Activity:
The biological activity of recombinant equine IL-4 was determined by measuring the proliferation of TF-1 cells.
The ED50 (or 1 unit of activity) for this effect in our laboratories typically falls into the range of 20–50 ng/mL.

Uses:
For in vitro applications. A dose-response assay should be performed to determine the optimal concentration for specific experiments.

Reconstitution:
Reconstitute with 0.5 mL of distilled or deionized water.
For dilution, use a buffer containing carrier protein (e.g., PBS with 1% BSA or neutral media with 10% FCS).
Freeze aliquots at -70°C.

Target Information

Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin 4 receptor.
IL-4 exhibits a broad range of actions. The IL-4 receptor also binds IL-13, contributing to overlapping functions between IL-4 and IL-13.
STAT6 acts as a signal transducer and activator of transcription, mediating IL-4’s immune regulatory signals.
The IL-4 gene, together with IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q.
IL-4 is located near IL-13, and these genes are coordinated by long-range regulatory elements spanning approximately 120 kb.
IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant of IL-4.
