Target Information
IFN-lambdas constitute a novel family of interferons that mediate antiviral protection across diverse cell types.
This family includes three members: lambda1 (IL-29), lambda2 (IL-28A), and lambda3 (IL-28B).
Similar to type I IFNs, IFN-lambdas activate intracellular signaling to induce gene expression.
They act through a class II cytokine receptor complex composed of CRF2-12/IFN-lambdaR1 (unique to IFN-lambdas) and CFR2-4/IL-10R2 (shared with IL-10, IL-22, and IL-26 receptors).
IFN-lambdas have been reported to prime dendritic cells to induce proliferation of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells.
Dendritic cells differentiated in response to IFN-lambdas express high levels of MHC class I and II but low levels of costimulatory molecules, promoting IL-2-dependent proliferation of CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ T cells with suppressive activity.
