Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
Target Information
This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol in the blood.
It delivers retinol from liver stores to peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin, preventing loss by filtration through kidney glomeruli.
Vitamin A deficiency blocks secretion of the binding protein post-translationally, resulting in defective delivery and supply to epidermal cells.
