Target Information
The VPS4B protein is a member of the AAA protein family (ATPases associated with diverse cellular activities) and is homologous to the yeast Vps4 protein. In humans, two paralogs have been identified, sharing high amino acid sequence similarity with yeast Vps4 and mouse Skd1 proteins. Functional studies show both human paralogs associate with endosomal compartments and are involved in intracellular protein trafficking. The VPS4B gene is located on chromosome 18, while its paralog resides on chromosome 16.
