Target Information
CSMD1 (CUB and Sushi multiple domains 1) is a human protein encoded by the CSMD1 gene. It is a potential tumor suppressor, and its deletion may result in more aggressive behavior of head and neck carcinomas.
CSMD1 is part of the complement system, functioning in both the classical and alternative pathways to defend against pathogens. It is primarily located in nerve growth cones, where it blocks the classical immune pathway and contributes to tumor suppression. Mutations in CSMD1 are associated with squamous cell carcinomas.
