Target Information
CDK11 is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase 11 family, essential for eukaryotic cell cycle control. It is closely related to CDC2L2, a nearly identical gene in the same chromosomal region. CDK11 acts as a negative regulator of normal cell cycle progression, with expression regulated during murine embryogenesis and activity coordinated with p34 (cdc2) during the cell cycle. The CDK11 gene may contain tumor suppressor elements affected by chromosome 1p36 modifications in neuroblastoma. CDK11 can be cleaved by caspases and plays roles in cell apoptosis.
