Target Information
Galectin 3 is a galactose-specific lectin that binds IgE and may mediate endothelial cell migration via α3β1 integrin and CSPG4 interaction. Together with DMBT1, it is required for terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis. In the nucleus, it functions as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. It is involved in acute inflammatory responses including neutrophil activation and adhesion, monocyte/macrophage chemoattraction, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and mast cell activation.
