PDGFRB는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로서, 죽상동맥경화증(atherogenesis) 및 SIS 온코진에 의한 세포 변형에 관련되어 있습니다.
이 성장인자들은 간엽 기원의 세포에 대한 유사분열촉진물질(mitogen)로 작용합니다.
수용체 단량체에 결합된 성장인자의 종류에 따라, 기능적 수용체는 PDGFR alpha 및 beta 폴리펩타이드로 구성된 호모다이머 또는 헤테로다이머로 존재합니다.
PDGFRB 유전자는 염색체 5에서 granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor 및 macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor 유전자와 인접해 있으며, 이 세 유전자는 5-q 증후군과 관련이 있을 수 있습니다.
염색체 5와 12 사이의 전좌는 PDGFRB(CD140b)와 ETV6(백혈병 관련 유전자)를 융합시켜, 호산구증(eosinophilia)을 동반한 만성 골수증식성 질환을 유발할 수 있습니다.
