Target Information
Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS) is a developmental disorder caused by a hemizygous microdeletion on chromosome 7q11.23. It is characterized by physical, cognitive, and behavioral traits such as facial dysmorphology, vascular stenoses, growth deficiencies, dental anomalies, and neurological abnormalities.
The WBSCR11 gene, also known as GRF2IRD1, GTF3, Cream1, or MusTRD1 in human and BEN in mouse, is located within the WBS deletion region and encodes a transcription factor potentially contributing to WBS symptoms. WBSCR11 is expressed in all adult tissues as several variants and shows distinct expression patterns during embryogenesis.
