Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This receptor-type PTP has extracellular, transmembrane, and intracellular catalytic domains. In mouse brain, the homologous gene interacts with MAP kinases to regulate their activity and localization. The rat counterpart is regulated by nerve growth factor, suggesting a role in neuronal growth and differentiation.
