Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. Their molecular weights range from approximately 40 kDa to 68 kDa and isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8. Each cytokeratin subtype (numbered 1–20) is associated with specific epithelial types and maturation states. Cytokeratin expression patterns are valuable markers in distinguishing epithelial malignancies and are widely used in tumor differential diagnosis, cytopathology, and flow cytometric assays.
