Target Information

HOMER3 encodes a member of the HOMER family of postsynaptic density scaffolding proteins. These proteins share a domain structure consisting of:

• N-terminal Enabled/VASP homology 1 domain (mediates protein-protein interactions)
• C-terminal coiled-coil domain and leucine zipper motifs (involved in self-oligomerization)

The encoded protein interacts with:

• Group I metabotropic glutamate receptors
• Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors
• Amyloid precursor proteins

It is implicated in neuronal signaling, T-cell activation, and trafficking of amyloid beta peptides. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
