Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms a heterodimer with subunits p50 or p52, constituting the NF-kB complex (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells).
Activation occurs through TNFα receptor-mediated phosphorylation of IKK, leading to phosphorylation and degradation of IκB, which allows NF-kB p65 to translocate to the nucleus. It plays a critical role in transcriptional regulation of the immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
