• For Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
  Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature (RT).
  Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments of epithelial cells, found in both keratinizing tissues (e.g., skin) and non-keratinizing cells (e.g., mesothelial cells). Although not typical markers for endothelial cells, cytokeratins can be present in certain microvascular endothelial cells.
There are at least 20 cytokeratins (40–70 kDa, pI 5–8.5) identifiable via two-dimensional gel electrophoresis.
They are classified into two groups:

• Type I: Acidic polypeptides
• Type II: Basic polypeptides

Each epithelial cell expresses at least one member of both families. Monoclonal antibodies against cytokeratin proteins are useful for tumor identification and classification.
