Target Information
The MYO1A gene encodes a member of the myosin superfamily, which functions as molecular motors interacting with actin filaments to generate mechanical force via ATP hydrolysis.
Each myosin includes:
- A conserved N-terminal motor domain with ATP- and actin-binding sites
- A light-chain-binding neck region containing IQ motifs for calmodulin binding
- A C-terminal tail domain involved in dimerization, membrane binding, and protein interactions
In kidney epithelial cells (LLC-PK1-CL4), MYO1A localizes to the brush border, where its head and tail domains interact with actin and the plasma membrane, respectively. The protein exhibits rapid turnover compared to the static actin core structure.
