Target Information
Histamine H4 receptor (HRH4) is expressed in human peripheral leukocytes, bone marrow, colon, liver, lung, small intestine, spleen, testis, thymus, tonsil, and trachea. Unlike the mouse H4 receptor, the human gene is not detected in the brain.
G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) form one of the largest families of signaling molecules, with over a thousand predicted members. All GPCRs share a seven-transmembrane helical structure and exist in active and inactive conformations. Ligand binding induces conformational changes leading to G-protein signaling and downstream effects. Negative regulation of GPCRs plays a crucial role in cellular physiology and pharmacology, driving research into new drug candidates. Notable GPCR-targeted drugs include Zyprexa (Eli Lilly) and Claritin (Schering-Plough).
