Target Information
The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein (ASH2L1, isoform 1) containing a nuclear localization signal and a PHD finger motif, suggesting a role as a transcription regulator.
- Predicted molecular weight: 68.7 kDa
- Alternative splicing may produce isoforms at 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa.
- Human ASH2L shares 60% homology with Drosophila ash2 and 90% with mouse ASH2L.
- Expression is predominant in adult heart and testis, and in fetal lung and liver.
- Low expression is observed in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and peripheral leukocytes.
- Expressed in leukemia cell lines (K562, Hel, Dami) with erythroid and megakaryocytic potential.
- Expression patterns vary with differentiation inducers (e.g., phorbol ester, hemin), suggesting a role in hematopoiesis and certain leukemia types.
- ASH2L may interact with beta-tubulin and beta-catenin.
