Target Information
The ITGA5 gene encodes the integrin alpha 5 chain, a member of the integrin alpha family. Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains. The alpha 5 chain undergoes post-translational cleavage in the extracellular domain to form disulfide-linked light and heavy chains, which combine with beta 1 to form a fibronectin receptor. Integrins are involved in cell adhesion and cell-surface mediated signaling.
