Target Information
Beta-catenin은 세포-세포 접착 구조의 주요 성분으로, E-cadherin과 상호작용하여 세포 성장과 부착을 조절합니다. 또한 adenomatous polyposis coli 단백질 및 미세소관과 결합하며, 다양한 신호전달 경로(tyrosine kinase, phosphatase, Wnt/Wingless 등)에 관여합니다. 이러한 상호작용은 형태형성 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, Beta-catenin은 모낭 세포, 기저 및 주변 세포 등 다양한 세포 유형에서 발현됩니다.
병리학적으로는 pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer 등 여러 종양의 발생과 관련이 있습니다. 핵 내에서 Lef/Tcf 전사인자와 결합하여 cyclin D, c-myc 등의 유전자 발현을 촉진함으로써 세포 증식을 유도합니다. 이는 Beta-catenin이 유방, 대장, 간, 폐, 위, 전립선, 피부 등의 고형 종양 발생에 관여하는 분자적 기초가 됩니다.
