Target Information
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are enzymes that charge tRNAs with their cognate amino acids. Lysyl-tRNA synthetase (KARS) is a cytoplasmic homodimer belonging to the class II family of tRNA synthetases. It is known to be a target of autoantibodies in human autoimmune diseases such as polymyositis or dermatomyositis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
