Target Information

LHCGR encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone and choriogonadotropin. It belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family (FSH/LH/TSH superfamily).
Its primary function is to act as the luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor, regulating the development and function of Leydig cells in males, and contributing to male secondary sexual characteristic development.
Mutations in this receptor can result in disorders such as familial male precocious puberty and male pseudohermaphroditism.
