FOXP1 단백질은 DNA 결합 및 단백질-단백질 결합 도메인을 모두 포함하며, 여러 종양 유형에서 소실되어 종양 억제 유전자로 작용할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 3p14.1 영역에 위치하며, 이 영역은 종양 억제 유전자가 존재하는 것으로 보고되었습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성되어 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
